Kenshō

Kenshō is a Zen Buddhist term for a direct glimpse of one's true nature. It does not describe a state to be achieved, but a moment of sudden clarity — a seeing through, rather than a seeing of. The experience is often quiet, even ordinary in its setting. What changes is the quality of attention brought to it. We built this collection around that idea because it asks something of the viewer as much as it offers something. Each work was made in collaboration with Japanese artists who bring their interpretation of the theme.

HOW WE DO THINGS

Art-led. Philosophy-rooted. Responsibly made.

Supporting independent artists worldwide

We commission artists directly across cultures and continents rather than relying on generic designs. We aim to support independent artists to do the important work they do.

Reinterpreting timeless cultural traditions

We draw from traditions across cultures — whether from the East or West. These are ideas that have endured the test of time, and we find artists from that culture to reinterpret these ideas for the modern times.

Crafting to last

Our prints are produced on museum-quality paper and framed in responsibly sourced wood. We also commit 5% of revenue to the UNESCO International Fund for Cultural Diversity, supporting the artistic traditions and communities we draw from.
